Renowned Tamale-based presenter Afa Staph has recently shed light on his departure from NEESIM FM, revealing the circumstances that led to his decision to leave the station. In an exclusive statement, He clarified that contrary to popular belief, he did not intentionally quit the station, but circumstances unfolded that ultimately led to his departure.
He explained that his exit was not a result of a voluntary decision to resign, but rather a response to changes in his role at the station. He detailed that the turning point was during the Ramadaan break, when he returned to find that his programs had been reassigned to another presenter. The reason given was that his busy schedule had made it challenging for him to maintain a consistent presence at the station, rendering his on-air presence inactive.
The presenter acknowledged that he did not hold a formal employment contract with Neesim FM and was not receiving a fixed salary. His arrangement was based on a commission structure, wherein he earned a percentage of the business his programs generated for the station. Afa Staph emphasized that this commission-based setup was mutually agreed upon as he believed the remuneration mentioned in their employment contract was insufficient.
He further revealed that he had initially been proactive in sourcing business for the station to ensure his own survival, given his reliance on commission-based earnings. However, over time, he observed a gradual reduction in the commission he was receiving, leading him to become disheartened. This downturn in his earnings, coupled with his programs being redirected and his shift to night duty, prompted him to reassess his role at the station.
Faced with what he perceived as diminishing returns and an altered role that hindered his ability to perform his duties effectively, Smhe made the difficult decision to part ways with Station. He noted that his departure was driven by a desire to maintain his self-respect and to seek opportunities where his contributions would be better recognized and rewarded.
