Ghanaian veteran actor based in the North known as Mba Sanda during a radio discussion with colleague comic actor and musician Umaru Janda on Radio Tamale said no one appreciates the importance of actors in the North, acting is perceived as the most useless profession.
Historically, Mba Sanda stands as a veteran Dagbani movie legend who graced our nets when sprouting/growing up and he has had a lot of influence on several lives as people, especially in the North.
Quite recently, Mba Sanda made sad talks after the host of the program Janda inquired to know how has it been for the actors in general to survive when it comes to the movie industry based in the North and he added.
In the North, no one helps if you are an actor. Not even our Members of Parliament (MPs) including the Chiefs as the way Southerners treat their people, it looks so hopeless.
The legend unhurriedly speaks while using Ajei Koo from Kumawood as an example of how he is been respected out there. To an extent, chiefs had to stop selling lands for him in the South.
Come to North, when you have a problem and take it to an MP, they would only give you ‘chop money’ and ask you to come back the next day. Instead of helping you to solve a situation that facing you. They prefer seeing you with problems every day. When bad times and hard times are suddenly here, notice those that remain, and the ones that disappear.
Meanwhile, the importance or impact actors and comedians are bringing to society can not underrated. They bring peace, unity, and love to the North (Dagbon) whenever there is an uncalled-for situation. Promoting our culture and tradition. But no one places the needed value on them as good ambassadors.
Saying, until we are no more, then they will see how helpful we were to Dagbon as a whole. But now, we (actors) are seen as worthless beings as zero in society. The old experienced actor Sanda remarks.
Poverty is not a shame, but being ashamed of it is. There’s going to come a point where you have to give up your whole life for one thing. Or give up that one thing for a whole other life. It’s hard to give up something you’ve always wanted.
