2022 Grammy nominee Ghanaian Reggae sensation Rocky Dawuni has advised that the only way Ghanaian artistes can gain more world recognition is by avoiding competition and fighting among themselves. He urged them to stay together for a common purpose.
Rocky observed that the Ghanaian music industry is on a good trajectory. But until the habit of togetherness and standing in for one another is cultivated, the pendulum will never swing.
Speaking to Akoma FM’s flagship Entertainment 360 host, Tony Best, on Saturday, the 2022 Global Music performance nominee indicated he is not competing with anyone. And his works speak for him.
“We have managed to push our industry to a great level which used to be years back. Different artistes are doing different things, which has brought variety into the industry.”
“What we need to do now is to come together as a unit and work and support each other. See ourselves as one and work collectively. It is the only way we are enlisted among the great in the world. It can’t be possible if we pitch one artiste against the other.”
On the subject of the A-list artistes in Ghana, which many may not include, the former Grammy Award for Best Album indicated that he is touring around the world with songs. He has had three Grammy nominations, so what other validation does he need?
