NEDCO announces revenue mobilisation exercise starting April 18

The Northern Electricity Distribution Company Limited (NEDCO) has announced a general revenue mobilisation exercise set to take place across its operational areas starting from April 18, 2023.

The exercise will target all categories of customers in arrears, including state-owned enterprises, ministries, departments and agencies, and metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies, according to a statement issued by NEDCO in Tamale and shared with the Ghana News Agency.

To ensure the smooth execution of the exercise, NEDCO has put in place special security arrangements to prevent interference, and anyone found to be engaged in illegal connections or reconnections will face prosecution.

During the exercise, NEDCO’s Head Office and area offices will be temporarily closed to enable all staff, including top management, to participate fully. However, customer service centres, zonal offices, and third-party vendors will remain open to address customer concerns, including reconnections.

NEDCO has urged customers in arrears to pay their bills immediately to avoid disconnection and payment of reconnection penalties. The statement also warned that “recalcitrant customers” who fail to redeem their indebtedness to the company after being served with demand notices will be arraigned.

NEDCO has appealed to the public for cooperation, emphasizing that paying bills on time is essential to the effective delivery of services.
