Kweku Kyei-Baffuor, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Bekwai’s daughter Akua Serwaa, has been reported dead. The lifeless was found in her matrimonial home at Bebu in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of Ashanti Region on Thursday, August 3. Husband of the deceased, Isaac Owusu said he got home to see his wife dead with their doors left open. He confirmed stolen items including a flat screen television and some items from their house around 5:00pm. Police have begun investigations into the matter. The body of the deceased has been sent to the Bekwai Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has announced the negotiation of a landmark new policy which would see the government of Ghana purchase imported oil products with gold rather than foreign exchange. Dr Bawumia announced the policy shift, which is expected to take effect by the end of the first quarter of 2023, as a move to combat the rampant depreciation of the cedi.
